Filesharing on a home network part 1
February 14th 2007 01:55
I am sorry that I haven't been posting at all lately, but I have been in-between many things. I am hoping to post a bit more once everything starts falling into place. Anyway, a quick post (and many many people already know about this but hey, it doesn't hurt to post it here!) to recommend a good filesharing program if you have a few computers at come and don't want to use windows fileshare (which by the way I reckon is quite dodgey).
DC (Direct connect) is a really good software which lets you share files on a network which you can control and customize as you wish. One of the best things about it is that it is freeware. I would like to post a walkthrough to set up a direct connect hub but at this point in time I am swamped with a bunch of other stuff. Anyway, as far as the software is concerned it is very user-friendly and easy to use. Here's some print screens which should give you an idea about the GUI.
This is the mainchat screen. On the right are all the users and on the left there's a utility to put textchat to communicate with users.
That should give the reader a basic overview!
I will soon post a bit more about this because at the moment I am restricted by limited availability of internet and time. Apologies about being so irregular at the moment
